CITY OF FREMONT RESOURCES

Fremont Family Resource Center (FRC): https://fremont.gov/228/Family-Resource-Center Centrally located in the Hub, the FRC houses over 25 State, County, City and non-profit agencies providing a variety of integrated services. Services include:

Fremont Library: http://www.aclibrary.org/fremont The Fremont Library offers a wide-range of programs and activities to children and their families to promote literacy.  Members have access to thousands of books, videos, audio-visual resources, and other multimedia materials.  In addition, the library organizes story-time, book clubs, live tutoring through Brainfuse, and information on educational apps/videos for students.

Divorce Care for Kids: http://www.dc4k.org provides an online directory of Bay Area divorce support group for children.  A DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) group is a safe, fun place where your children can learn skills that will help them heal. DC4K groups blend, games, music, stories, videos and discussion to help kids process the divorce and move forward. Groups meet weekly and are designed for children ages 5-12.

Support Students with Learning Differences

Fremont Autism Support Group: http://alamedakids.org Access to programs depends on eligibility. Please click the View Program Details button and look at the Requirements section.

Family Resource Network: Call Eileen Crumm-Executive Director, Phone: 510-547-7322, Ext. 116 - Provide information of services throughout the community for parents of children under 8 years old with autism. Offers a chance to meet other parents with autistic children.

Understood: https://www.understood.org is a new, free online resource (in English and Spanish) that is aimed at providing families with the practical tools and advice for their child’s academic, social, and emotional journey and especially for children struggling with learning and/or attention issues.

The website offers the following (and more):

  • A feature that allows the parent to fill out a “Just for You” profile that will cull articles to fit your interests and your child’s age and issues
  • A “Parenting Coach” feature that allows parents to search for ideas and advice based on the specific challenge
  • A “Tech Finder” feature that helps you find expert-approved apps and games for your child
  • A “Through Your Child’s Eyes” feature that allows the parents to experience, first-hand, what their child’s struggle

MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES

If your family has MediCal, you can call Alameda County ACCESS at (800) 491-9099 to find out about Bay Area agencies that offer mental health counseling for MediCal families. You can also call them to find out mental health practitioners that speak a different language other than English.

If your family has private insurance, you can visit the Psychology Today website link below to search for a database of therapist in your area.
